Adolescence is full of incredible growth and change which can make it both a wonderful and a challenging time for both parents and adolescents. Therapy can help families navigate some of the difficult dynamics associated with this developmental stage.

Many adolescents are willing and even eager to participate in individual or family therapy, while some are more reluctant. Therapy is rarely effective when it is forced, however, and it has been my experience that therapy with a highly resistant teen will most likely be unproductive.

If your teen flatly refuses to attend therapy, but you are concerned about your child’s mood or behaviors, it can be very helpful for both parents to start work with a therapist together without their child. By closely examining and changing their responses to their child’s actions, parents can often see significant and positive changes.

I have limited after-school appointment slots for pre-teens and teenagers. Please contact me for current availability.
